Hello
My name is Relly (they/them) and I have spent the last decade exploring the literary world, including freelance writing, novel writing, copyediting, proofreading, sensitivity reading, and manuscript critiques. After a lengthy hiatus, I am finally offering freelance services again, now that my debut novel, THERE'S A BADGE FOR THAT, is out in the world! Please visit my services page for more information. My Story
I am a partner, and parent of three children, ages 14, 11, and eight. I live in a small city in southeastern Ontario with my family and our two dogs, four cats, and two rabbits. My first love is writing; but I also spend much of my time working magick, enjoying photography, videography, baseball, home DIY projects, and of course, reading. I like traveling, communing with nature, and watching our kiddos excel at all their creative and athletic pursuits.
Outside of this plethora of hobbies, I am passionate about advocating for mental health and neurodivergence, queer rights, disability rights, and invisible illness awareness, as I am disabled with multiple chronic illnesses.
At the end of the day, however, I always sit down at the keyboard. In fact, I have spent most of my life writing in various capacities. From the time I learned how to read, I was writing fictional stories, and quickly progressed to winning regional awards for submissions with my high school songwriters group. Since then, I have had several nationally distributed magazines as clients, including Andivero Magazine, Sessions Magazine, Strong Fitness Mag, and Missy/Ink, and my work can be found in both print and digital publications.
I also worked as a staff writer and photographer for the international online music blog Concert Blogger, which is now ENTRTNMNT. My assignments included photographing concerts, and writing concert and album reviews on a regular basis, which allowed me to further explore my love of music and writing in tandem. I also spent the last 13 years maintaining a varied roster of freelance clients, including popular parenting websites and fashion and music magazines, and now include manuscript critiques, proofreading, and sensitivity reading with my offered services.
My main pursuit is writing young adult novels, however, and with an almost three decade-long backlog of plots and characters, I will seemingly never run out of story ideas to write. My most notable accomplishment so far is that while quarantined and homeschooling my three children, I won [insert the writing challenge that shall not be named here] and penned an entire young adult, contemporary manuscript. My debut novel, THERE'S A BADGE FOR THAT, is out now, and I'm currently working on my next novel, coming in mid-2027. May the odds be ever in my favour.
